Our Coaches are the backbone of our youth soccer programs. We are glad you are coaching. Kids can't play without you. We want to support your coaching experience and we value your time. Our Age Group Coordinators are the main contacts for answering coaching questions.
Announcements
Current news and events important for coaches:
- If you use Merritt College fields, print and keep this permit with you.
- Aug. 1: Start date for teams to submit practice requests, along with their fully completed Team Volunteer Form. See Practices for more info. Practice requests are due by Aug. 7.
Coaches are encouraged to provide information about their soccer background.
Coaching Courses
New coaches have to take their F course first. They then need to wait a year before taking their E and so on. The E/D and the D course can be taken in the same year. The calendar for coaching courses can be found on the CYSA North web site under Programs/Coaching. Courses are held in many local cities from Spring through the beginning of the Fall season.

Positive Coaching
As members of the Positive Coaching Alliance, we expect all coaches and parents to model good sportsmanship, and help us create and promote a positive environment for children to grow as players and individuals. In our Club we honor the game, our opponents, the referees and each other. For more information about our Positive Coaching program, see the PCA section of JLYSSL.

Registration
Registration for coaches is fairly similar to registration for players. Go to the Registration section of our Web site and follow the link to begin the registration process.
At the end of each Fall season, each club forms casual and competitive teams to play in a one-day tournament. All coaches and referees are invited to play.
Training
We provide training (Coaches Day) for all U6 and U8 coaches. Attendance at Coaches Day is required for U6 and U8 coaches. For coaches in U10 and above, training is provided through CYSA (California Youth Soccer Association) licensing courses. See our League's Web site for more info about CYSA licensing courses and additional coaching information.
