The Roy Gorman Memorial Cup was created in 2005 in memory of Roy Gorman, one of MSC's legendary volunteers. Roy served as interim President in 1999 and president in 2000. If you would like to share about other contributions by Roy, please note them here.
In addition to serving as a coach, Board member and Club president, Roy Gorman was also an active referee in our League. The Roy Gorman Memorial Cup helps to lend prestige to older recreational (Class IV) teams that continue to play the Beautiful Game as they age up into the older divisions. Each year someone from our Club Board personally attends the final match where the Cup is awarded, and says a few words about the Roy Gorman Memorial Cup. It is a wonderful way of keeping the memory alive of Roy Gorman, someone who made a big difference in our soccer community.
Each year, this trophy is presented to the winner of the U14 Gold flight in the JLYSSL End-of-Season Tournament. Our Club tries to alternate each year between boys and girls. Here is the list of winners:
