The Age Group Coordinator forms teams for the age/gender group - for example, Under-10 Girls.
The Age Group Coordinator works closely with the Registrar, who provides a training session every season. To volunteer for any open Age Group Coordinator positions, check the Help Wanteds to see where there are openings, and then email the MSC Volunteer Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Review every player's forms for completeness, team preference, desire to "play up" in the next age group, friends playing, etc.
- Group players based on these characteristics.
- For new players or those whose former teams have disbanded, figure out which team needs more players and if the new player has any connection to a player on this team.
- Repeat till finished.
- Respond to parent emails asking about team placement for their player.
Time Commitment
Our goal is to have a lead coordinator with assistants so that each person puts in 8-10 hours.
Required Experience
- Good organization skills
- Soothing people skills
- Excel and email
Schedule
This position gets started in May and finishes when all players in the age group are placed into a team. This can drag on into the summer but does not require sustained effort in that case!
Location
Kickoff meeting at Registrar's house; rest of the work in the comfort of your own home. Pajamas are optional.
Minimum Term
At least 2 years. We love it when an age group coordinator "moves up" through the age groups with his or her child.
